Girl Scouts of Western Rivers Council * Summer Lovin' Fun Patch Program

IT'S A PLAY DAY!

One fun way to spend time during the summer and help out younger girls is to have your girls plan a play day and invite a troop or group of girls to participate. This is a great way for your girls to s-t-r-e-t-c-h their leadership and planning skills.

There are lots of activities for girls to choose from when planning. The following may help them get started.

BALLOON TOSS - Fill balloons with water (not too full!) from a hose and tie a knot in the end. Each person chooses a water balloon and a partner and forms two lines, facing each other about three feet apart. At the signal, toss the balloon to your partner; she should try to catch it. After each toss, take one step back and throw again. Continue until only one team is left with a filled balloon.

BEACH BALL RELAY - You will need two beach balls. Divide the group into two teams and have each team line up behind the starting line with a ball. Establish starting and turnaround points and a start signal. When the signal is given, one player from each team puts the ball between her knees, "runs" to the turnaround point, returns to the starting line and hands the ball to the next person in line. Each person repeats the procedure. The first team to finish, wins.
