cook-ie dollar (kook e dŏl'ər) ) n.
Through our cookie dollar program, a girl selected for any of the above Destinations may earn $1 per box of Girl Scout cookies she sold to offset the cost of her event fee and travel expenses. To participate in the Cookie Dollars Program you must also participate in the Fall Sale and sell to at least the patch level. All girls registered at some point in the 2007-2008 membership year are included in this requirement. Don’t be disappointed in the spring! Participate in the Fall Sale so you are eligible to participate in the Cookie Dollars program! Even if your troop does not participate in the Fall Sale, an individual may still be able to sell by calling the Eugene Service Center at 485-5911 ext. 117. There is NO guarantee that by participating in the Fall Sale Program you will be accepted for one of these events. **Some of these opportunities have a limited number of participants. Participants must meet certain requirements (age, skills, etc.) to be considered and must also go through a selection process. There is NO guarantee that by participating in the Fall Sale Program you will be accepted for a Destination. All applications for National & International Destinations MUST be pre-approved by G.S.W.R.C. The Cookie Dollars program provides funding for selected opportunities. Cookie Dollars must be used the year it is earned, is not carried over into the next program year, and is not transferable. Cookie Dollars can not be used for any event deposit. Each girl must pay the deposit with cash or PSC for each event. Events without the minimum number of participants will be canceled. Cookie Dollar availability for any event traveling AFTER October 2008, will be determined by our new council, and are not guaranteed. 2008 Cookie Dollar Application Form
A Little History... The Cookie Dough/Dollars program was created to provide a method of fundraising available to all Girl Scouts in our council. Originally created to encourage girls to reach beyond themselves and their community, it also gave them the opportunity to travel. This program is used as a retention tool, enticing the girls to stay Girl Scouts into their teen years. And as trips became more involved (and therefore more expensive), Cookie Dollars became a way for all Girls to have the same opportunity to participant in the adventures. |
