The Juliette Gordon Low Society

The Juliette Gordon Low Society was established to help ensure the financial stability of Girl Scouts of Western Rivers Council. The Society presents a way for friends of the council to make significant gifts to the Endowment Fund, thus ensuring that Girl Scouting will be available for future generations of girls in western and central Oregon.

You are invited to become a member of the Juliette Gordon Low Society by making a commitment to include the Girl Scout Endowment Fund in your giving plans.

Gifts to the endowment fund are not spent on an annual basis, rather they are invested for long term growth with the Oregon Community Foundation and only the income earned from investments is spent each year.

What a lasting gift! You can help provide the benefits of Girl Scouting for all time. Please consider it now. A gift may be given in the name of someone other than the donor.

Membership entitles you to:

Vera E. Heidenreich / Willagilespie Community Center Endowment Fund
The VEH/WCC Endowment Fund was established in 2001 and its proceeds were to be used for special needsSpecial needs is broad and ambiguous terminology and it has been defined by the fund committee as follows:

Print friendly version

bulletSpecial needs includes activities, events, equipment, and/or enrichment opportunities that are unknown or unforeseen at the time the council budget is adopted and which will help advance the council mission of bringing Girl Scout program to Every Girl Everywhere.
bulletAs many girls as possible should benefit.  This could be done through an event or activity, through the purchase of program equipment or it could be through paying to train an adult or girl who would then share the information and knowledge with others.
bulletThis will be a one-time award.  If the project is on-going, future support will have to come from other funding sources.
bulletThe funding will be used in the same program year in which it is awarded.

Note: The money will not be awarded for camperships, as the fund committee believes that there are adequate funding sources to meet that need.

Process:

Applications will be accepted from registered Girl Scouts in the period of January 1-20. Evaluations will be made and the award of funds will be announced by February 28th.

bulletThe application should includes the following information:
bulletName, address, and phone number of applicant.
bulletWhat the amount of the request is, keeping in mind that typically the amount available will be approximately $500.
bulletHow, where, and when the money will be spent.

Applications are to be taken or mailed to the VEH/WCC fund Committee at the Eugene service center and received not later than January 20th.

In the event no applications are received, the available funds will be awarded at the discretion of the VEH/WCC fund committee and/or its representative for a special need.
