Position:  Summer Lunch Program Specialist

Reports to: Product Sales Manager

Term of position: Temporary summer position (average 12 hours a week)

Position Summary: The Summer Lunch Program Specialist is accountable for the delivery of alternative program to reach non or under served girl populations in selected areas of our council jurisdiction. They are responsible for marketing these programs and to recruit both girls and adults for them.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver program for the summer lunch program in conjunction with the Product Sales Manager; Program should include, but not limited to:
    bulletSafety information
    bulletHealthy snack
    bulletTake home activities
  2. Market programs to increase visibility and to create community collaborations.
  3. Recruit girls for placement in program ensuring that all segments of the population are served as indicated by membership statistics and to reach membership goals.
  4. Administer summer lunch program and manage budget.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
bulletSubscribe to the principles of Girl Scouting as embodied in the Promise and Law.
bulletSubmit to a criminal background check.
bulletRegister as a member of the Girl Scouts of the USA
bulletValid drivers license and dependable vehicle with proof of auto insurance

QUALIFICATIONS:
bulletHigh School Diploma or the equivalent
bulletExcellent organizational and interpersonal skills
bulletAbility to manage time effectively, work in both team and leadership capacities

Starting Salary - $8.25 per hour based on 12-15 hours/week
June 23rd 2008 – August 22nd 2008

Volunteer Opportunities

bulletGirl Scout Shop Assistant - The Shop Manager, Diane Shores, is looking for volunteers to assist in the Shop. Opportunities to learn the shop operations include: inventory control, customer service, and annual physical inventory. If you are interested please contact Diane, at 485-5911 ext. 118.

Volunteer Event Director - Design and run school-year events.  Creative girl-centric idea person. Good organization skills. Able to oversee other volunteers and girls at the events. Computer skills to design flyers and informational sheets. Available to oversee events that are occurring after school and on weekends.  Contact Marissa Bennett at 485-5911 ext.116.

bulletEpisodic Event Volunteer - Assist in running events such as Girl's Night Out or Brownie Try-it Blitz.  Most events are 3-5 hours, longer events are available.  Assist in setting up, running a station and cleaning up.  A great chance to work directly with girls on a episodic basis.  Candidate must enjoy working with girls, be willing to teach a variety of skills (training/instructions provided) and complete a volunteer application.  Contact Marissa Bennett at 485-5911 ext.116.
