Camping

Do you want to take your girls out and about? Maybe go to a Service Unit Camporee, a weekend troop camping trip or just an overnight at Stafford House at Wallace Creek. Some of the best Girl Scout memories are made, being in the out of doors. If so, you need to take Troop Camping training! This training will give you all the skills to have a successful trip and ensure that your girls have a great time. Please sign up now for this great training being put on by our “Wonderful Volunteer Trainers”. Topics covered: meal planning, fire building, knife safety, helping girls to plan a successful trip, places to go and more. If spending the night, additional topics include songs, campfire, more meal preparations and networking with other Girl Scout adults.

The menu is planned but you will be doing the cooking. Dutch oven, stick, foil, box oven, Hobo stoves, over the fire, and on a Coleman stove. You will help set up camp like your Big Tree camp. Fun activities are also planned: lashing, hiking, camp skills, singing around the campfire, meeting new friends, and much more.  A registration flyer will be at the March Service Unit meeting. We must have 10 registrations by April 13th or the weekend will be canceled. Registration fee is $25 which includes site fee, food, program supplies and a patch. Questions, call Caroline 433-9662 or Dory 382-8054.  This weekend is not required, but a way to get experience in getting your girls ready for their memorable camping trip. Some leaders go back every year, making new friends and enjoying the weekend in the out of doors. Flush toilets and hot water!
